REI Tarn Co-op 65 Pack - Kids'

 

We purchased this pack for our 8 year old however our 11 year old ended up wearing it because it was a bit big for my 8 year old. Luckily it has a customizable back panel with Velcro allowing it to fit a 4 foot child to a 5 foot child. I believe it would work for a taller child as well. It distributed the weight (15lbs) nicely on her hips and shoulders.

We liked the bottom access pocket for the sleeping bag as well as the many gear loops for added gear. I would definitely recommend this pack for a starter pack for a child 8 through early teen. This earned an easy 5 leaf rating!
